Outdoor Pursuits

Outdoor Pursuits is a special strength of the school with Sixth Formers also supporting younger pupils in a variety of activities.

In addition to Senior students participating in the annual Ten Tors event, over 150 students are involved in Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with six weekends a year dedicated to Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions.

A variety of activities is on offer during term-time, added to which there are many trips abroad in the holidays. Recently groups have enjoyed adventure holidays in The Dolomites, Scotland, the Pyrenees, Slovenia, climbed the Matterhorn and reached Base Camp on Everest.

Safety is paramount and we are very fortunate in having a team of highly experienced staff with advanced Mountain Leader and first aid qualifications.

Success in outdoor pursuits builds confidence and allows Sixth Formers to widen their range of experiences and responsibilities.
