"Preparation for the next stage of life."
Sixth Form
Every year we welcome students from other independent and maintained schools into our Sixth Form, together with present Year 11s at QEH.
Each applicant is considered individually, though six B grades at GCSE is the minimum requirement for entry. Admission is also based on an interview and recent school reports.
What you should be doing
Whether you are already at QEH or come from outside, we urge you to take advantage of all guidance offered in preparing you for Sixth Form life next year.
Think carefully about what you want from your post-GCSE education and whether the Sixth Form at QEH will meet your expectations.
Work closely with your subject teachers, form teacher, Heads of Sixth Form and also present Sixth Form students to find out as much information as possible.
Whatever subject you are considering at A-level, talk to the Head of Department concerned and look carefully at our Course Information mini-site so that you make the right course decisions before it is too late. Be honest about where your strengths and weaknesses lie - predicted GCSE results are often not your best guide!
The ‘Introduction Morning’ for current Year 11 will start these enquiries, along with careers advice and information gathered from the Parents’ evening. If you are an external applicant, don't worry because you will be given guidance as part of the entry process.
Full information about entry, and Sixth Form scholarships (including those awarded by the Ogden/Denman Trust (for Mathematics or Science), are available from the Admissions Office and should be addressed to Ms Joanne Sharrock, Head of Sixth Form: admissions@qehbristol.co.uk
