Year 4 Curriculum
Easter Term, 2010 A very warm welcome back to everyone, (despite the cold temperatures) and a very happy new year. This half term we will move on with our Invaders and Settlers topic to the Vikings – always popular with the boys. This will include Viking longboats, jewellery and armour, settlements, lifestyle and Alfred the Great. Our Literacy work will tie in closely with this topic; we will be looking at stories with a historical setting, recounts, and various poetry forms. In science we will be investigating electrical circuits, good and bad conductors of electricity, how to increase and decrease power supply, uses, dangers and environmental issues. In art we will be studying Van Gogh and attempting a pastel/paint copy of the Sunflowers. French will now be taught in class time on a weekly basis and we are embarking on Modelling Club – largely to accommodate the boys increasing interest in War Hammer – but possibly to include other modelling. This will be on a Tuesday at 4.00. PE will be on a Tuesday morning and Y4 will not be swimming this term – games on a Monday and Friday afternoon as usual. We look forward to a happy and productive half term.
