QEH Juniors camp out at Horner Mill scout campsite, a glorious spot in the Exmoor National Park
QE Award
Boys at QEH Juniors love to be active, and regularly take part in the ‘QE Award’ as well as in wider Outdoor Pursuits.
The QE Award is our own junior version of the highly popular Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme. It is carefully designed for boys in Years 5 and 6 of the Junior School, as well as for younger Senior School years.
The scheme introduces new skills and experiences outside the boys' usual 'comfort zones', building confidence and encouraging them to feel good about themselves.
A variety of activities is on offer during term-time including public performances, cultural visits, charity and community work and cookery. There are expeditions such as camping at Horner Mill, a glorious site in the Exmoor National Park, and the culmination of the second Year 6 QE Award.
The safety of the boys is always paramount and we are very fortunate in having a strong team of highly experienced staff, with advanced Mountain Leader and first aid qualifications, to accompany boys in their outdoor activities.
The scheme is a resounding success with many boys receiving their Award at the annual Junior School prize-giving ceremony.
