Year 5 & 6 gain skills for life!On the first Monday of term, the boys in Years 5 and 6 enjoyed a challenging afternoon at the Create Centre Lifeskills Workshop.
An entire floor of the Create Centre in Bristol has been converted into a ‘real world’, complete with houses, cars, streets, rivers, railway lines, electricity sub-stations, playgrounds, shops and even a farmyard! In this incredibly realistic but safe environment, the QEH boys were taken out of their comfort zone and asked to deal with some challenging emergency situations.
Activities included making 999 calls to all the emergency services, identifying potential hazards in the home, water safety and dealing with casualties. The boys also had the pleasure of spending £10 in the local shop and learning about products with age restrictions on them. Worryingly, a number of boys failed to spot when they were short changed!!
The boys all had a great afternoon and were a credit to the school! Thank you to Mr Jagger and Mrs Caple, who gave up their time to help out with the visit.
