Entry Requirements

Entrance Examinations for the Senior School will be held on Saturday 21st January (Year 7 only Entry) and Saturday 28th January (Years 7 & 9 Entry) 2012. Click here for our 'Step by Step Guide'

Candidates need to have completed an application form to sit the Entrance Examination - please contact our Admissions Registrar on 0117 930 3068.

 

 

Examination for Entry to Year 7 (11-plus)

 

·Verbal Reasoning test (multiple choice) - 50 minutes
·Non-Verbal Reasoning test (multiple choice) - 30 minutes
·English exercise (Key Stage 2 work) - 30 minutes
·Mathematics (Key Stage 2 work) - 20 minutes

There is also a Taster Day and informal interviews.

Examination for Entry to Year 9 (13-plus)

·Verbal Reasoning paper (multiple choice) - 50 minutes
·English paper (Key Stage 3 work) - 60 minutes
·Mathematics paper (Key Stage 3 work) - 40 minutes

There is also a Taster Day and informal interviews.

 

Fees, Bursaries, Scholarships and Special Consideration

 

The award of Scholarships is based on performance in these examinations. See separate booklet for details.

 

QEH awards means-tested Bursaries, based on financial circumstances. A separate application form for financial assistance must be filled in before the examination. See separate booklet for details.

 

Those with Special Educational Needs must submit an up-to-date report from a certified Educational Psychologist before the examination. 25% extra time may be allowed in the examination for those boys for whom it is recommended. It is also important that we are informed, before the examination, of any other circumstances which might necessitate extra time in the examination or special arrangements if your son joins the school. The granting of extra time is at the discretion of the school.
