Extra-Curricular MusicAt QEH, we provide a wide range of extra-curricular ensembles and activities for performers of all instruments and vocal styles. Our current list of ensembles include: School Choir We have a very busy timetable of concerts and recitals throughout the school year, some of which are in collaboration with Red Maids'. Christmas is always a busy time, with tickets to our annual ‘Carols by Candlelight’ event and traditional Carol Service being snapped up fast. We also have great fun singing carols in public, both in shopping centres with Red Maids' and also at Blaise Castle. In the Spring term we have our annual House Music Competition where pupils from each of the four school Houses perform solos in separate categories (woodwind, strings, brass, voice, piano and rhythm section instruments). Each House also rehearses and directs its own ensemble and choir, often performing their own arrangements. The House with the most points at the end is awarded the House Music Cup. Our termly Unplugged concerts and bi-annual Battle of the Bands competition are always sell outs and hugely popular, as are our Jazz Evening, Cabaret Evening, Junior Showcase and classical concert in Clifton Cathedral. Musicals are also part of a long-standing tradition for the two schools. In recent years we have also enjoyed joint choir tours, with our sister school Red Maids', to the USA, Italy and Salzburg.
