Visiting ProductionsSince its opening by Princess Anne in 1990, more than 700,000 people have attended performances, workshops, presentations, lectures and lessons in the theatre with an average of 150 different events each year. More than 300 professional theatre, dance, music, comedy and poetry companies and artists have performed at the theatre, including Knee High Theate Company, English Shakespeare Company, John Mortimer, Jane Lapotaire, Midge Ure, Reem Kelani, KAOS Theatre Company, Kiki Dee, The Albion Band, Theatre Alibi, Marvin Koo Dance and the Welsh National Opera. The theatre has received work reflecting more than 40 different nationalities and cultures. There have been performances from French, Malaysian, Spanish, American, Palestinian, Danish, Gambian and Israeli performers and companies. Lectures and presentations also form a strong strand of the theatre’s work and we have welcomed, among others, Sir David Attenborough, the Chief Rabbi, the Director of the National Gallery, while Rick Stein gave an unforgettable demonstration on stage! We have established strong links with more than 30 local organisations and community groups who are regular users of the theatre. These include Bristol City Council Social Services, Multi A, Asian Arts Agency, UWE, the University of Bristol, Davar, Potry Can, Poetry Slam, Filton and the City of Bristol Colleges, Dance Voice and the Bristol Old Vic. The theatre could not function without a team of dedicated student volunteers. Along with the Technical Manager no fewer than 87 boys have supported the theatre as front of house and technical staff this year. For more information please contact theatreadmin@qehbristol.co.uk
