Outdoor Pursuits

Outdoor Pursuits is a special strength of the school with sixth fomers also supporting younger boys in a variety of activities.

In addition to Senior boys participating in the annual Ten Tors event, over 150 boys are involved in Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with six weekends a year dedicated to Bronze, Silver and Gold expeditions.

A variety of activities is on offer during term-time, added to which there are many trips abroad in the holidays. Recently groups have climbed high in the Matterhorn region, achieved Base Camp on Everest and tested their physical and mental endurance in adventurous activities in Slovenia.

Safety is paramount and we are very fortunate in having a team of highly experienced staff with advanced Mountain Leader and first aid qualifications to accompany boys.

Success in outdoor pursuits builds confidence and allows sixth formers to widen their range of experiences and responsibilities.
