Pastoral Support
Once in the Sixth Form, you are assigned to a Tutor who already knows you, or will get to know you, through some aspect of school life such as academic, sporting or cultural.
Tutor group sizes are typically six in either year, so a close relationship and mutual understanding can develop. You have regular contact, both formal and informal, with your Tutor. All Tutors have tutorial sessions with their group in which issues such as UCAS applications may be discussed.
In timetabled General Studies sessions, topics covered include: time management; development and assessment of personal key skills; preparation for and review of Work Experience; and the UCAS procedure for university application. In addition, wider issues such as the environment, law and current ethical issues are covered in a mixture of lectures, debate and discussion groups.
All this, together with the monitoring of academic progress through the Sixth Form, will enable the Tutor to prepare a comprehensive reference for your application to University or elsewhere.
