PastoralOnce in the Sixth Form, students are normally assigned to a Tutor who already knows them, or will get to know them, through some aspect of school life such as academic, sporting or cultural. Tutor group sizes are typically six in either year, so a close relationship and mutual understanding can develop. Students have regular contact, both formal and informal, with their Tutor. All Tutors have tutorial sessions with their tutees in which issues such as UCAS applications may be discussed. In timetabled General Studies sessions, topics covered include: time management; development and assessment of personal key skills; preparation for and review of Work Experience; and the UCAS procedure for university application. In addition, wider issues such as the environment, law and current ethical issues are covered in a mixture of lectures, debate and discussion groups. All this, together with the monitoring of academic progress through the Sixth Form, will enable the Tutor to prepare a comprehensive reference for application to University or elsewhere.
