The QE Award is our own exclusive junior version of the highly popular Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and it is carefully designed for boys in Years 5 and 6. The scheme introduces new skills and experiences outside the boys' usual 'comfort zones', building confidence and resilience, encouraging them to feel good about themselves.
The boys participate in a variety of modules including learning to get around in the outdoors and expeditioning; finding out more about British wildlife; doing voluntary work with the National Trust; and bushcraft and adventure activities. The boys have a log book in which they record their endeavours, usually with lots of photos! The QE Award culminates in Year 6, with an overnight camp on Exmoor.
Clubs & Activities
We offers a variety of lunchtime and after-school clubs. Some clubs run every term and others change seasonally, so we hope there is something that attracts your son's interest. Examples of our clubs are Lego, Maths, Steel Pans, Indoor Football, Chess, Fencing, Art and Drawing, Tennis, Current Affairs Quiz, Philosophy, Choir, Magazine, Climbing, Gardening, Drama, Instrumental Group, Judo and Running.
Every year group enjoys a residential trip in the summer term. Years 3 and 4 go away for 3 nights while Years 5 and 6 have a 4 night trip. The boys take part in team building games and outdoor pursuits activities, as well the all important toasting of marshmallows around the camp fire!
Wye Valley Adventure
Year 5 enjoyed a fabulous residential trip to the Wye Valley.
