Sport

Every boy is good at something in addition to his academic work, and every boy needs to develop an interest outside the classroom.  Many thrive on opportunities to develop their talents in sport; others just enjoy taking part!

We strive to offer a range of opportunities to participate in sport, our aim being that all our boys learn the value of exercise whilst enjoying themselves.

We believe Sport plays a vital part in the all round education of boys. Our weekly timetable reflects this, with all boys enjoying two afternoons of Games and Activities.

Over the year the boys will be taught rugby, football and cricket by specialist coaches at our Failand sports grounds. We have a full fixture calendar for all Year groups and all boys have the opportunity to represent the school in competitive matches throughout the year.  Failand has recently undergone a £2.7million development and the new facilities include a 3G rugby/football pitch, sand dressed hockey pitch/tennis courts and tarmac tennis/netball courts.

In addition, there are weekly PE lessons in the Senior School gymnasium and Year 3, 4 and 5 also enjoy swimming lessons at the nearby Bristol University pool.  Elite swimmers can be selected for the Swim Squad who compete in local and national galas.

Many of our after school clubs also provide the boys with opportunities to try out new sports and activities including golf, hockey, fencing and judo.

Athletics also forms part of the summer sports curriculum and provides boys with the chance to practice and prepare for our annual sports day at Failand in June.
