Students celebrate outstanding GCSE results
Students at QEH are celebrating once again, as over two thirds of all grades awarded are the top 9, 8 and 7 grades.
Nearly one fifth of all students achieved six or more grade 9’s, while three students secured more than eight grade 9’s.
Dominic Allen was celebrating after learning he had been awarded eight grades 9s, one grade 8 and two A*s (in English Literature and Language, which still use the traditional grading system). Ashe Raymond-Barker also achieved eight grades 9s, one grade 8, one A* and an A, while Rowan Wood celebrated similar results with eight grade 9s, one A* and one A. All three boys are looking forward to joining the Sixth Form at the school.
“I am delighted to be able to congratulate all our GCSE students on some excellent results,” said Stephen Holliday, Headmaster at QEH.
“In a year where we have seen a return to the linear style of exam we have once again demonstrated success across all areas of the curriculum. The majority of our students will now join our thriving Sixth Form, along with our largest intake of female students since the Sixth Form became co-educational in September 2017.”
